The sixteenth edition of the Sofia Science Festival will take place from 14 to 17 May at Sofia Tech Park.
You will find accessible, entertaining events demonstrating the wonders of science and the latest research results from across the world, and how they enrich our lives, explain familiar phenomena and bring hope for the future of humanity.

The Sofia Science Festival celebrates science and technology and presents leading Bulgarian and international researchers in discussions, demonstrations, hands-on workshops for schools and adults, and interdisciplinary events linking the sciences with art.

This year the programme for schools is taking place on 8 and 9 May, featuring a diverse series of events for different age groups and across STEM disciplines. Designed specifically for younger audiences, these entertaining and informative events offer appealing explanations of scientific concepts from curriculums in Maths, Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Geography.

If you are a schoolteacher, check out the programme below and find out how to plan your students’ attendance so that they can make the most of the festival programme. All school events are free, but seats need to be booked in advance. While the majority of events are in Bulgarian, there is 1 event in the Schools Programme in English and most of our presenters are fluent in English so they would be able to support your students. Or we might assign you an English-speaking volunteer.

And don’t forget: besides the events (shows, workshops or presentations), there is a vast area we call The Discoverers Cave with many teams your students can get their hands “dirty” with experiments, demonstrations and various games.

The Sofia Science Festival is multilingual by default. Researchers from Austria, China, Croatia, France, Hungary, Italy, Portugal, Spain, UK, USA join Bulgarian researchers and international colleagues working in the country from 14-17 May for in-person events at the XVI Sofia Science Festival at Sofia Tech Park.
